Talaka ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclosure, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application (the "App"). Please read this privacy policy carefully.
2. Data Collection and Use
A. Information You Provide
- Account Information: We store your name, email address, native language, proficiency level, age, interests, and learning goals to create your profile and personalize your learning experience.
- User Content: Text you type and audio you record during exercises are processed to provide feedback but are not used for other purposes without your consent.
B. Automatically Collected Information
- Usage Data: We collect anonymous data on how you use the application, such as features accessed, time spent, and error logs, to improve app performance.
- Device Information: We may request access to device permissions such as Microphone (for speaking exercises), but do not access other private data like contacts or photos.
3. Voice Data Handling
Crucial for App Store/Play Store Compliance:
- Purpose: We access your device's microphone solely to enable speaking practice exercises and pronunciation assessment.
- Processing: Voice data is sent securely to third-party speech processing services (such as Microsoft Azure Speech Services or Google Cloud) purely for the purpose of analyzing pronunciation and converting speech to text.
- No Permanent Storage: We do not permanently store your raw audio recordings on our servers. Audio is processed transiently to generate feedback and then discarded.
4. AI Processing
Our App uses artificial intelligence models (such as Google Gemini) to generate lesson content and conversation responses. Text inputs from your learning sessions may be processed by these models to generate relevant educational responses. No personally identifiable information (PII) is shared with these AI providers for model training purposes.
5. Service Providers
We work with third-party service providers to help us operate the App, including:
- Supabase: For secure user authentication and database hosting.
- RevenueCat: For managing subscriptions and in-app purchases.
- Google/Microsoft: For AI and speech processing services.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain your personal data only as long as necessary to provide the Service and for legitimate business purposes.
Right to Delete: You have the right to request the deletion of your account and all associated data at any time. You can do this directly within the App by navigating to Settings > Delete Account, or by contacting us at privacy@talaka.app.
7. Children's Privacy
We do not knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible.
